Garofalo, John J., Jr. 85 of Middleboro, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 28, 2025.
Son of John J. Garofalo, Sr. and Antoinette (Tropeano) Garofalo, John grew up in North Quincy. After high school, he joined the Marines and then the Quincy Police Department where he retired from. In his retirement years, he worked at the Fireside Grille and Dave’s Diner. John found joy, in addition to his family, in cooking delicious meals, giving out his eggplant and meatball recipes, telling old stories, and visiting the casino.
At the heart of John’s world was his wife Barbara (Higgins) Garofalo, daughter Laurie Flanagan of Raynham, sons John (Jay) Garofalo III of Rockland, and John (Jack) McDonough of Middleboro, his 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, the special Garofalo families in New York and Iaria family in Hingham, along with his honorary son James McElroy.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday 3/9/2025 from 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Funeral Home Service will be celebrated on Monday 3/10/2025 at 11:30 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
