Doran, John G. of Quincy, age 83 died peacefully at the V.A. Hospital, West Roxbury on June 6, 2011. Born and brought up in a fishing village in New Foundland. John moved to Boston in his teens during W.W.II. During the fifties he served his new country in the Army. Mr Doran started his career working on Texas Tower Radar Rigs, later working as a rigger at the Fore River Shipyard. After marriage, the couple moved to Quincy and have been residents for the past 58 years. John was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 33 for 20 years retiring in 1978. He came back to his roots, being a commercial Fisherman until 1993. He is survived by his beloved wife Leona( Handrahan) Doran. Loving father of John W. Doran and his wife Robin of Greenfield. He was the adored Grandfather of Hillary J. Doran of Greenfield. Dear Brother of Nora Doran of Quincy. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8pm in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday morning at 9:15am prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, North Quincy, Saturday at 10am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association – Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA.
