John Alan Foster, of Quincy, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 75.
John was born in Boston on November 9, 1949, and was the son of the late William and Jean (Martin) Foster. He was raised in Quincy and was a proud graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1968. On October 13, 1973, he married the love of his life, Patricia (McDonald), at St. Joseph’s Church in Quincy. Their nearly fifty one years of marriage is a testament to their devotion to one another.
John was a man of strong work ethic and was dedicated to his work as a Sheet Metal Worker with Local 17 for over 40 years. After his retirement, you would find John roaming around Hough’s Neck on his scooter making the rounds, or in his boat for an afternoon float. John and Patricia enjoyed their nearly three decade annual Aruba getaway every October.
Known by his close friends and family for his blunt humor and silly sayings, John never walked into a room without someone waiting for a sarcastic word or a comment that would lead to laughter. His way of being has made for lasting memories by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
John was the beloved husband of Patricia Ann (McDonald) Foster of Quincy. He was the devoted father of Stephen Foster and his wife Tabitha Brennan of Plymouth and Jeffrey Foster and his partner Rebecca Kelsch of Quincy. John was the loving grandfather of James Chludzinski-Foster of Quincy and Emma Rose Holliday of Quincy. He was the dear brother of Barbara Beal of Ohio, the late William Foster and his surviving wife Joyce of Hingham, and the late Donald Foster. He was the beloved brother-in-law of Maureen Hamilton and her husband Thomas Hamilton and Edward McDonald and his wife Paula McDonald. John is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and his canine companion, Brody.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, prior to the funeral service in Houghs Neck Congregational Church, Quincy, at 11 AM. Cremation will follow. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in John's name to the charitable organization of one's choice.
