Spillane, John F., Sr. of Quincy, died January 21, 2021.
John adored his family, especially his wife and children. He was a devoted family man and was happiest sitting around sharing stories and laughs together. His wife Joan was the love of his life and his lighthouse, guiding each other through life. He was a proud United States Veteran of the Navy and the Army. He worked for the Boston Globe for many years as a foreman until retiring. John was Mr. Fix-It, always working on projects with wood working, mechanical engineering, or anything that needed to be done around the house. He would sketch out the projects ahead of time and was very precise and detail oriented, never missing a step. He loved taking long walks and enjoyed the simple things in life. He was very proud of his natural jet black hair that he still had up until the end. He was as skilled with his mind as he was with his hands, he enjoyed listening to Opera and reciting Shakespeare from memory. John was the most reliable and dependable man and always a true gentleman. He was caring, generous, and liked to laugh and had a mischievous side to him as well. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
