John F. “Jack” O’Shaughnessy of Norwell, formerly of North Weymouth, died suddenly on February 11, 2020 at the age of 72.
Jack served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, began working for the Port Authority in Boston. before beginning his career for the U.S. Department of Labor where he retired as a Director of Apprenticeship and Training. Jack then founded the Norwell Landscape Company. Jack loved hockey and enjoyed coaching his son’s South Shore Seahawks teams and was also active in fundraising for the Norwell High School Hockey Boosters. Jack enjoyed the beach, spending time on Cape Cod, traveling to Florida and Canada, and camping in Vermont with his boys. He was an avid Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox fan. Jack had a great sense of humor, and was a true people person. He will be missed.
Beloved husband of Nancy L. (Higgins) O’Shaughnessy. Proud father of Army Sgt. Ryan O’Shaughnessy and his girlfriend Alicyn; Army Private Colin O’Shaughnessy; and Navy Petty Officer Ian O’Shaughnessy, all of Norwell. Son of the late Kathleen (McArdle) and John O’Shaughnessy. Loving brother of Denise Mazzola of Kingston, Robert “Bo” O’Shaughnessy of Marshfield, Sheila Walter of Denver, CO, Neil O’Shaughnessy of FL, the late Joanne Clapp and the late Kathy Rawdon. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and his extended family in Canada. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday from 11 AM to 3 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square) followed by a service at 3 PM.
