John F. “Mac” Mchugh, Iii

McHugh, John F., “Mac” of Hingham, died September 24, 2015, surrounded by his family.

The beloved husband of 49 years to Marie (Ahern) McHugh of Hingham. Loving father of Marybeth Schombert and her husband James of Eugene, OR, John “Jay” McHugh and his wife Melissa of Quincy, Allyson McHugh of Hingham and the late Kevin McHugh and his wife Karen McHugh of Weymouth. Brother of Barbara Bains of NC and Jeanne Allen of Mattapan. Cherished grandfather of Kelly, T.J., Abigail, Rory, Ronan and the late Liam.

A longtime Hingham resident, John was born in Waltham and raised in Mattapan. He worked as a diesel engine mechanic for more than 30 years retiring back in 1993. After his retirement he began working as a bus driver for South Shore ARC, a job he truly loved. It was there that he met so many wonderful people, whom he cherished. John also worked as a landscaper for Arnold Hall Conference and Retreat Center in Pembroke for 10 years. A devout Catholic, John was an active member of St. Paul’s Parish in Hingham. He enjoyed gardening and found great pleasure in helping others. John was a great story teller and an all around good man.  The foundation of his life was his family, they were the cornerstone of all that was truly important to him. He will be sadly missed but will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.    

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
