Gallagher, John F. of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester died November 26, 2014.
Beloved son of the late Francis J. and Sophie M. Gallagher. Devoted brother of Carol Kenealy and her husband Michael of Quincy. Uncle of Michael Kenealy, Sean Kenealy and his wife Debra and Kerry Riordan and her husband Kevin. Johnny was also lovingly survived by 5 great nephews and one great niece.
John was born in Boston and grew up in Dorchester before settling in Quincy where he lived for 26 years. John was employed at the State Lab in Jamaica Plain for over 20 years. He enjoyed being known as the former mascot for the Quincy Fire Department “Smokey the Bear” never missing the annual Christmas Parade. John was loved and cared for by many at Work Inc. and Charles River Industries. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 8:30-9:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
