John F. Clark of Hingham, formerly of Weymouth and Quincy, died December 31, 2018 at the age of 89.
John was a Vietnam veteran with 30 years of service to his country including 21 years in the United States Marine Corps and 9 years in the Fleet Reserve, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Among the decorations he received were the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation, a Combat Action Ribbon and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. After retirement, John worked as an administrator for Stone and Webster Engineering. He was a founding member of the Top 3 Association, a life member of the VFW, a member of the USS Bremerton CA 130 Association, and a long time member of the Weymouth Elks.
Beloved husband of 65 years to Gertrude M. (Roper) Clark. Loving father of Donna M. Stevens and her husband James of Las Vegas, NV and John K. Clark and his wife Susan of Rutland, VT. Proud grandfather of James A. Stevens, Jr., Michelle M. Santana, Anna Clark Garrow, Collin Jack Clark; and great grandchildren Dylan Santana, Oliver Santana, and Joselyn Garrow. Brother of the late Walter C. Clark.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 11 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at Noon. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne on Friday at 2:30 PM.
