Cahill, John F. of Quincy, formerly of Milton for 45 years and South Boston for 40 years, March 8, 2003. Beloved husband of 48 years of the late Mary (Kenney) Cahill. Loving father of John K. “Jack” Cahill of Quincy, and the late Virginia M. Cahill. John is also survived by his devoted daughter-in-law, Connie Cahill, his loving granddaughters, Carolyn and Christina Cahill, and his close friend, Norman Ferber of Quincy. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Agatha’s Church, Milton at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Burial in Milton Cemetery. A graduate of Boston College, Mr. Cahill started his career as a social worker for the old Boston Welfare Department. He then went to work for the State Adoption Division. Prior to his becoming the chief probation officer in South Boston court, he worked for the Division of Child Guardianship, which is now DSS and where he met his wife, the late Mary (Kenney) Cahill. Mr. Cahill retired as the Chief Probation Officer in South Boston District Court in the 1970’s. He loved to read and he was a devout Catholic. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Donations in memory of John may be made to the Virginia M. Cahill Memorial Scholarship c/o Emmanuel College, 400 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02115-5798.
