John F. Abbott of Holbrook, originally from Quincy, died unexpectedly on March 22, 2017, he was 45. The beloved son of Maureen(Sullivan) Riley and the late Dennis Abbott. Step-son of Herbert Riley. Life partner of Kristen Munn of Holbrook. Cherished father of Deanna Schmieder of Webster and Daniel Abbott of Abington. Brother of Dennis Abbott and his wife Lisa of Braintree, Jason MacKinnon of Whitman, Colleen Riley and her partner Mike Solis of Malden, Caitlin Riley and her partner Steve Korman of Quincy. Grandson of Claire Sullivan of Quincy and Margaret Abbott of FL. Stepfather of Patrick Bent, Jr., Alyssa, Debra and Zachary Bent all of Holbrook. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
John grew up in Quincy and graduated from Quincy Voc-Tech High School. He served in the United States Marine Corp. After his military service, John worked as a carpenter for many years. He enjoyed the simple things in life for example the beach and following the New England Patriots. The most important aspect in his life were his children, he adored them and cherished his role as their father. John will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have known him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy.
Cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to The New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
