John E. Pompey

John E. Pompey of Hull, died May 14, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 62.

John grew up in Arlington. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. John moved to Hull in 1993. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and coached Hull Youth Football as well as Hull Little League. He loved to golf and enjoyed being a lector at St. Ann’s Church. The essence of his life was truly his family, he adored them and cherished the time he spent with them. John will be remembered for his upbeat and positive outlook on life. His focus was always on helping others. John will be sadly missed by his family, but they are grateful for all the blessings he brought into their lives.

The beloved husband of Linda (McCaffery) Pompey.  Devoted father of Jennifer Skane of North Carolina, Jon Pompey of Everett, Matthew Pompey of North Carolina and Jayson Pompey of Hull. Loving Son of Cecilia (Babineau) Pompey of Burlington and the late Harold W. Pompey. Brother of Stephen Pompey of Woburn, Susan Perry of Reading, Mary DiMambro of Wilmington and David Pompey of Southboro. Cherished “Pup” of James Michael Skane, Shelby Skane and Jordyn Skane. Son in Law of William McCaffery of Peabody and the late Mildred “Rena” McCaffery. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30am prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 11:30 AM. Burial in Hull Village Cemetery, Hull. Donations in memory of John may be made to Hull Youth Football, P.O. Box 492 Hull, MA 02045.
