John D. Walty

Walty, John D. of Quincy, died March 6, 2015. 

John’s family was the most important part of his life.  He especially cherished the time with his children and grandchildren.  He and his wife Nancy have been married for 53 years and lived most of his life in Quincy.  A 45 year employee of Boston Gear Works, John began as an office boy and retired as a computer programmer.  John served his country during the Vietnam era with the United States Air Force.  He was a 1955 graduate of North Quincy High School and will be remembered for his generosity and sense of humor. 

Beloved husband of Nancy (Cahill) Walty of Quincy.  Loving father of Susan Maloney of Quincy, Donna Schmidt and her husband Gregory of OH, Dan Walty and his wife Tina of Quincy, and Laura Smith and her husband J. Nevin of GA.  Brother of Doug Walty of Falmouth and Bob Walty of VA. Also survived by 10 cherished grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 3-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A funeral service will follow at 7 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to Norwell Visiting Nurse Association, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061.
