John D. Pettinelli

Pettinelli, John D. of Middleboro, formerly a Quincy native, October 6, 2006. Beloved husband of Margaret A. (Kane) of Middleboro. Loving father of Michael Pettinelli of Northampton, Robert Pettinelli and his wife Tina of Quincy and the late Mark Pettinelli. Devoted stepfather of Michael Liberty and his wife Priscilla of Norwood, Maureen Stanton and her husband Brian of Brookline and Mark Liberty and his wife Beth of Holliston. Loving brother of Damian Pettinelli of Weymouth and Patricia Caffrey and her husband Joseph of Millis. Cherished grandfather of Christian Pettinelli of Quincy. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and 6 step grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Wednesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Cremation will follow. Mr. Pettinelli lived in Middleboro for the past 2 1/2 years but always considered himself a native of Quincy. He was a civil engineer and worked as the Superintendant of Public Works for the Town of Whitman for many years. John was a naturally gifted athlete. He enjoyed softball, golf and especially football. He was inducted into the North Quincy High School Football Hall of Fame. Mr. Pettinelli coached Girls Softball for several years in the Whitman Youth Sports Program. He was a 1960 graduate of North Quincy High School and graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. John’s family describes him as charming, kind, a man’s man, protector, a man of few words and a skilled craftsman. He was very generous with his time and talents.
