John D. Lyons, Ii

John D. Lyons II ~ “The Hat”, 89, Oceanside, CA, originally of Dorchester, long-time resident of Squantum, MA passed away February 19, 2018 in the company of his children.

John was the beloved husband of 52 years to the late Ruth A. (Cairnes) Lyons. Devoted father of Karen Donahue of PA, Denise and her husband Terry Tipton of CA, Julie Adams of TX, John Lyons of MA, and Nancy Kane of TX. Cherished brother of Virginia Lyons of MA. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

John was proud to be an Ironworker for the Local #7 for 36+ years.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Past Commander and lifetime member of the Robert I. Nickerson Post 382. John enjoyed the company of many friends.  He was an avid reader, patch collector and superb story teller. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10th in St. Gregory’s Church, Dorchester, at 10 AM. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to a charity of your choice.
