John D. Boyd

Boyd, John D. of Weymouth, formerly of Hough’s Neck, died July 31, 2016 at the age of 87.

John served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After the service he worked at Boston Gear Works for several years before switching to the phone company where he worked for over 30 years. In 1999, along with his childhood friend Donald Satori, he reopened Louis’ Crossing Restaurant and Bar in Hough’s Neck. The focus of John’s life was faith and family. More than anything, he enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s events, always offering his support and encouragement. He could sit for hours telling them tales about the family’s heritage and Nova Scotia. He will be remembered for his storytelling, his kindness and his generosity.

Beloved husband of 62 years to Marguerite V. (McCue) Boyd. Loving father of J. Michael Boyd and wife Eileen of Abington, Margaret V. Boyd of Weymouth, Mark E. Boyd, Jeanne M. Boyd, both of Abington, JoAnne Rose and husband Lew of Worcester, Robert J. Boyd of Weymouth, Steven D. Boyd and Susan Boyd, both of Hough’s Neck. Devoted “Gramp” of Julie and fiance James Tucci, Dylan and friend Jenny Baker, Doug, Ian, Colin, Emma, Danielle (and Danielle’s mother Marybeth Davis), the late Kelly Ann and great granddaughter Kennedy.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 11 AM. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the Kelly Ann Boyd Memorial Scholarship, Cardinal Spellman High School, 738 Court St., Brockton, MA 02302.
