John C. Baimas

Baimas, John C. of Eastham, January 21, 2012.   Husband of Angelica (Anastos) Baimas of Eastham.  Father of Philip J. Baimas and his wife Maureen C. Kearney and Carol C. Baimas and her husband Anthony J. George, Grandfather of Lianna and Maria Baimas-George and John G. Baimas, all of Hingham.  Brother of Irene Kiamos of Greece and the late Cynthia Baimas, Paul Baimas and Kiki Pananos.  Uncle of many precious nieces and nephews. John was born in Fitchburg and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in WWII. He was a graduate of Harvard, Fitchburg State, and Tufts universities. He taught Latin at Fitchburg High Shool where he coached winning Latin teams for many years.He also led that city’s billingual education program. He was a Fulbright scholar and spent a year in Greece teaching at the University of Economics in Athens. He retired to Eastham where he spent many happy years with Angelica enjoying the beach and their family. Visiting hours, Tuesday 4-8PM at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham.   Funeral service on Wednesday at 10am in St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree. Burial at MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
