John Joseph Bacon

John Joseph Bacon, a longtime resident of Quincy, passed away on Saturday, September 14th. He was 92.

He was born in Boston and raised in Milton by Mina (English) and Edward J. Bacon. John grew up in Milton and after high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. John served for four years before returning home. He learned to cook while serving and brought those skills back home with him. He worked as a baker and cook for many years. In 1970, he continued his education at Bryant and Stratton College. He earned his associate’s degree in business there in 1972.

John met his wife, Louise M. (Prezioso) in the early 1950’s and they were married in 1954. They settled in Quincy and had 3 children and 68 wonderful years together before Louise’s passing. John’s life centered around his family. He will be remembered as hardworking, honest and extremely devoted to his wife, children and family.

John ran in high school and continued to do so late into his 60’s. He was a sports enthusiast, often watching baseball and football, and sometimes hockey. He always knew the key players names and kept up with the scores of the teams he watched.
