Coyne, John B. of Quincy December 12, 2006. Son of the late Patrick J. and Mary (Scanlon) Coyne. Devoted husband ofJosephine “Joannie” (Murphy) Coyne of Quincy. Beloved father of Kathy and her husband Terry Foley of Braintree, Tom Coyne and his wife Anette of West Roxbury, Joanne and her husband Steven Fraser of Dorchester, and Jackie Coyne and her friend Mike Penzo of Quincy. Cherished grandfather of Shannon Foley, Catherine Coyne, Victoria Coyne, and John Coyne Fraser. 2nd Dad to Julie & Keith Pitts and Family. Dear brother of the late Mary English and Joey Coyne. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and dear friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4 – 8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John B. Coyne may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38105. John resided in the Wollaston section of Quincy for over 38 years with his wife of 55 years. They also spent many years summering in Marshfield. He grew up in Dorchester attending and playing baseball at St. Ambrose School. John joined the U.S. Navy where he also played baseball in New London. He was a disabled veteran, a member of the local DAV, a member of the John P. McKeon Post, No. 146 AMVETS, and the Elks both in FL and in Quincy. John retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992 after working with them for 18 years primarily in the Wollaston Branch. Prior the the Post Office, John worked for Revere Sugar for over 20 years until they closed. John was a huge sports fan especially of the New England teams. John enjoyed socializing with his many longtime friends and adored being with his family.
