John A. Shuttleworth

Shuttleworth, John A. of Quincy, formerly of Harwich and Connecticut died June 27, 2012. Beloved husband of Mary A. (Duggan) Shuttleworth of Harwich. Loving father of John A. Shuttleworth, Jr. and his wife Kathy of N. Harwich, Mark G. Shuttleworth of Maine, Dana B. Shuttleworth and his wife Elaine of Georgetown, Nancy Bizek and her husband Bob of Fairhaven, VT, and Scott Shuttleworth and his wife Donna of Quincy. Brother of the late Edwin and Walter Shuttleworth. Devoted grandfather of Jillian and Austin of Harwich, Stephen of Maine, Matthew of Georgetown, Lauren of Fairhaven, VT and Jaclyn and Sydney of Quincy. John is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren. John was a graduate of Quincy High School, Dean College and Massachusetts Maritime Academy, class of 1944. He worked for Zurich America as an Insurance Underwriter for 42 years before retiring in 1986. John grew up in the Hough’s Neck section of Quincy which is where his love for the ocean started. He was an avid sailor and sailing was Johns true passion in life He made many long trips on his sailboat with his wife Mary. John was also a creative woodworker and loved working on projects around the house. Most of all John loved his family who were the cornerstone of his life. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-5 in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of John may be made to Massachusetts Maritime Academy, General Scholarship Fund, 101 Academy Drive, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532.
