Mrs. Joanne M. (McDonough) Joyce, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully at 86 years old in the company of her loving family on July 31, 2023.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Coleman and Dorothy (Holland) McDonough. North Weymouth is where Joanne and Thomas chose to raise her family of four children.
Joanne was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Joyce, and loving mother of Diane Holly and her husband, Rolf, of East Longmeadow, Michael Joyce and his wife, Yvette, of Randolph, Linda Alspaugh and her husband, Don, of North Carolina, and Thomas Joyce and his wife, Amy, of Arkansas.
She was the sister of Joseph McDonough and Dennis McDonough both of South Boston, Betty Durant of Florida, David McDonough of Scituate, and the late Dorothy Stangel and Mary McDonough.
Joanne was a cherished Nana to Joseph, Hope, Nick, Perrin, Cole, Joseph, Aiden, and Connor. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joanne was a loving wife to Thomas J. Joyce and mother. She was a tireless servant to her four children caring for their every need while Thomas worked at nuclear power plants throughout the country and in South Korea. When the children were grown, she worked in appliance sales at Sears in Braintree for over 20 years. During that time, she was a top salesperson and worked 12-hour shifts. After retiring she and Thomas enjoyed trips to Germany, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Ireland. After Thomas passed, she spent winters in Lauderdale-By-The -Sea, Florida with her childhood friend Carol Green. She adored her 7 grandchildren and loved spending as much time with them as possible vacationing with them down the Cape, in New Hampshire, and Arkansas.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, August 7, from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).
A Celebration of her Life will be held will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home. Following the memorial, the internment will take place in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
