Joanne H. Burke

Burke, Joanne H. (Harvey) of Marshfield, former longtime resident of Braintree, passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2024. Joanne was born in Boston to her parents John and Patricia. She was raised in Braintree where she would later raise her own family. Joanne attended Archbishop Williams High School and went on to receive her Associates Degree at Aquinas College. She worked for many years as an insurance broker for Charlie Field and Rogers and Gray. Joanne later found a love of waitressing at The Eating Establishment where she loved conversing with patrons and providing a personal experience.

As early as she could remember Joanne’s dream was to become a mother and this role was truly the most important thing that defined her as a person.  Joanne’s whole life was dedicated to providing her three children with unconditional love and support. Nothing compared to the joy she felt spending time with her children and grandchildren. Joanne will be remembered fondly with a grandchild in her lap, making memories and reminiscing about the days when her children were toddlers themselves. Joanne’s hobbies included shopping, traveling, Arts and Crafts, baking cakes and mixing up the occasional Cosmopolitan.

Joanne is survived by her three children Meghan Bonk and her husband Shawn of Havertown, PA, Matthew Burke and his wife Kristen of Plymouth, MA and Brian Burke of Hingham, MA. Her dear cousin Linda Mulvey, who was the sister she never had, her husband Garrett of Marshfield and aunt to their children Marisa and Dylan Mulvey. Cherished Grammy to 3 grandchildren; Gabrielle, Luke and Owen. Predeceased by her parents; Patricia and Arthur Parrow and John Harvey.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Clare’s Church, Braintree at 9:30 AM.
