Joan V. Macqueen

Joan V. MacQueen (Norton) of South Weymouth, passed away peacefully April 27, 2023, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 87 years old. 

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Veronica Norton and raised by Mary (Mamie) and Thomas Logan. Joan grew up in South Boston and was a proud graduate of Gate of Heaven. After marrying Bob, she proudly raised her 7 children in South Weymouth. She committed her life to sharing her love with her children and grandchildren, who adored her. She always shared her warm heart with everyone around her, she exemplified strength in life’s most difficult times and was a beacon of hope amongst us all. She’ll always be remembered as the greatest love of all “lovies”. 

She was the loving wife of the late Robert E. MacQueen, Sr. Beloved mother of Robert E. MacQueen, Jr. and his significant other Lois Melchione of Scituate, Joan Marie MacDonald of Plymouth, Michael F. MacQueen and his wife Cindy of Abington, Michelle Fitzgerald and her husband Paul of Mendon and Suzanne L. Soucie and her husband Arnie of Kingston. Predeceased in death by her two daughters, Maureen MacQueen and Joyce V. MacQueen. Loving “Nana” of 17 grandchildren and “Big Nana” to several great grandchildren. Cherished sister and best friend to Janice Kussman of Quincy, dear sister in-law Marilyn Norton of Marshfield and beloved Godmother to Joanne Devin of Canton, whom she adored. Loving sister to the late, Ronald Norton, Stephen Norton, Peggy Coughlin, Claire Capeless, Ronnie Logan and Thomas Logan. She will also be remembered by several brother in-laws and sister in-laws from the MacQueen family, as well as   many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours on Thursday, May 4, 8:30 AM-10:30 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte.18 opp. South Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Services will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth at 11 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
