Joan S. Gavin

Gavin, Joan S. (McGarry) of Quincy, passed away at home surrounded by her family March 9, 2015. 

Joan was a loving and caring woman who was always there when needed, she had an open door policy for all the neighborhood children and would enjoy their company.  Joan had a love for shopping at thrift stores and always found great deals.  She enjoyed square dancing but most importantly spending time with her family and those she loved.  She will be sadly missed.

Predeceased by her husband Walter F. Gavin.  Beloved mother of Walter F. Gavin Jr. of Quincy, Peter R. Gavin and his wife Nancy of FL and Jeffrey Gavin of Quincy. Devoted grandmother of Michael, John, Neal, Becka and Sean.  Great Grandmother of Michael Jr., Avery and Liam.  Caring sister of Muriel Hughs-McGarry of Brockton and Carol Ordway of NH.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  A deep appreciation to Mary Ellen Boyle and Joan’s her granddaughter Becka Gavin for the full time care they provided to Joan throughout her illness.  Joan’s family would also like to thank the staff at Hospice of the South Shore for all of the care they provided to Joan.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
