Picard, Joan (Deschenes) of Hanover, formerly of Quincy, died May 9, 2014.
Joan’s family meant the world to her and her children and grandchildren gave her immeasurable joy. She loved spending summers at her house on Lake Ossipee and will be remembered for her humorous stories, sense of fun, caring manner and her friendly nature. A social person by nature she was a board member on the Hanover Council of Aging and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was the owner of the “Let’s Have Fun” Nursery School on Hancock Street in Quincy, a business she operated for 25 years. She was a graduate of Bridgewater State College and served on the Quincy School Committee.
Beloved wife of the late Thomas Picard. Loving mother of Suzanne Chase and her husband Steven, Renee Parry and her husband Donald; all of Hanover, and Scott Picard and his wife Julie of Durham, NH. Daughter of the late Rene Deschenes and Agatha (Richter). Sister of Mary Folan of Quincy, John Deschenes of Westwood, and the late Norman Deschenes. Grandmother of Michael, Kevin & Zachary Chase, Amanda, Aaron, Joseph & Jamie Parry, Riley & Annie Batchelder and Thomas & Lucy Picard. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, Hanover at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
