Joan Marie Smith

Smith, Joan Marie (Harrold), 88, of Port Orange, passed away peacefully,Thursday September 12, 2012 at Sandalwood Nursing Center in Florida. Daughter of the late Robert Harrold and Mary (Baynes) Harrold. Beloved wife of the late George W. Smith. Loving mother of Kathleen M Viglas , Linda M. Goodwin of Port Orange, FL and Stephen G. Smith, and the late Richard P., and Lisa M. Smith. Sister of the late Robert Harrold . Grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Joan was also the longtime companion of Richard McCarthy. Joan was born in Boston and lived in Quincy for many years before moving to Florida in 1993. She was a hairdresser and a teacher of hairdressing for 50 years. She was a member of the VFW #3282 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 4089. Joan loved crocheting, bingo and chocolate. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
