Joan Marie Burke

Joan Marie Burke, of Hull, MA, passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2015 in Plymouth, MA. She was 66 years old.  

Joan was born in Boston and attended Boston Parochial schools and graduated from St. Mary of the Assumption High School in 1966.  She dedicating her life to the assistance of others and she was proud of her work with the Veterans Administration and all she was able to provide to American Veterans.  Originally a resident of Jamaica Plain, Joan finally settled and created her longtime home in Hull where she raised her family.  Joan was a beloved member of the community and was a fixture in the High School Cafeteria for over 20 years. 

A devoted wife of 42 years she is survived by her husband James Burke; her sons Jason Burke and his wife Kimberly of Fort Drum, NY, and Jeffrey Burke and his wife Cristiana of Quincy, MA; her grandchildren Payton and Patrick;. her sisters Kathy Poles of Dorchester, MA, and Maureen Sarsfield of Bellingham, MA and brother Frank Aherne of Boston, MA. 

She is preceded in death by her father Maurice Aherne and her mother Cecelia Aherne both of Dorchester, MA. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham MA at 21 Emerald St. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 8:45 AM prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 10 AM.
