Joan M. Letson

Letson, Joan M. (Murdock) of Hingham, died on March 18, 2011 surrounded by the family she cherished. Wife of the late Dudley W. Letson, III. Loving mother of Catherine Fisher of Andover, Dudley W. Letson, VI and his wife Trisha of Medway and Joanna Sands and her husband Brad of Weymouth. Beloved daughter of Josephine (Cannata) Murdock of Hingham and the late Charles Murdock. Sister of Chuck Murdock of Florida. Cherished Nonnie of Benjamin R., Adam C. and Jonathan Fisher, Bill & Jeremy Letson and Nate, Madeline, Lydia Rose & Neil Sands. Joan was a longtime resident of Hingham. She worked as a town clerk in Hingham for 10 years. A member of St. Paul’s Church Choir and the Sons of Italy in Hingham, she was also active at St. Paul’s School for many years. Always on the go, she volunteered at 1000 Southern Artery in Quincy. A championship bowler, Joan also loved ballroom dancing and roller skating. She loved the outdoors and cherished the times she spent at Nantasket Beach in Hull. Joan celebrated every moment she shared with her mother and together they found great enjoyment taking trips to Foxwoods. She also enjoyed cooking and playing the violin. The true essence of her life was her family, it was the foundation of all that she lived for. She will be remembered as an amazing daughter, mother, sister and grandmother who brought joy and happiness to the lives she touched. Joan will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have been part of her amazing life. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-7pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. Hingham. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 10am prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, 147 North St. Hingham on Wednesday at 11am.
