Joan M. Keenan

Joan M. (Gillis) Keenan of Weymouth, passed away peacefully,  November 6, 2016. 

Beloved wife of Charles F. Keenan of Weymouth.  Loving mother of Cheryl Boleza and her husband Edward of Abington, Robert J. Keenan and his wife Nancy of Weymouth, James M. Keenan and his wife Gina of Marshfield and Kathleen A. Spurr and her husband Charles of Weymouth. Dear sister of Herbert Gillis of Canton and the late Catherine McWilliams, Lawrence Gillis, Ann Ruell, Martina Duffy, Loretta Bertolon, Rosemarie Mulhern, Genevieve Callahan and Joseph Gillis.  Joan is also survived by 11 loving grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many loving nieces and nephews. 

Joan was born and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts and resided in Weymouth for the past 52 years. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1952 and went on to raise 4 children with her loving husband of 59 years. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.  The ocean was where she found peace and spirituality. Joan’s fondest memories were family vacations on the cape. Her sweet, caring disposition was loved by all. Joan’s love of life, warmth, advice, and laughter will be missed by all she touched. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:00 AM Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
