Joan M. “Joanie” (Burke) Miller, of Hull and Fort Myers, died peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 79.
Joan was born in Dorchester on January 2, 1945, and was the daughter of the late James and Josephine (Mansell) Burke. She was raised in Dorchester, attended local schools, and graduated from Dorchester High School. Joan and Jack raised their family in North Easton and Gunrock Beach in Hull.
Joan was the President and owner of Miller’s Express in Sharon. Joan and Jack started their medical transportation business in 1994 with their business partner Rick Maltais.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late John A. “Jack” Miller, who passed away in 2014. She was the devoted mother of Robert B. Miller of Plymouth, Carol A. Bratt and her spouse Erek of Norton, and Daniel J. Miller-Dempsey and his spouse Timothy of Hingham. Joan is predeceased by their daughter Susan. She was a devoted Nana to Kyle Miller of Plymouth, Sarah Miller of Washington DC, Cameron, Jake, Ryon, Brayden Bratt of Norton, David and Jordan Miller-Dempsey of Hingham. She was the dear sister of James Burke and his spouse Elaine Hartnett of Weymouth and Patricia Macki and her spouse Thomas of Hull. Joan is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Joan was affectionately known as the matriarch of the Gunrock “circle”.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 10:30 AM in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, 208 Samoset Ave., Hull. Services will conclude with interment in Hull Village Cemetery, Hull. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.
