Joan L. Buckley

Joan L. Buckley (Peers) of Weymouth, died at home June 8, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.

Joan graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Brighton High School in 1949 where she served as President of Beta Sigma Gamma. She went on to work in the banking industry for First National Bank of Boston, South Weymouth Savings Bank and Quincy Cooperative Bank. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, sewing and family trips to Hilton Head, SC. She will also be remembered as a great cook. Most of all, Joan dedicated her life to her family.

She was the beloved wife of Francis J. Buckley. Loving mother of Laurie Boulter and husband James of Pembroke, Donald F. Buckley and wife Julie of Middleboro and the late John M. “Jack” Buckley. Devoted “Nana” of Dylan, Madison, Jennifer, Michael, Kellie, Jack and Kendra. Joan is also survived by her loyal dog Becky.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury. Donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Dr. Donna Younger Fund c/o Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
