Joan F. (Calhoun) Girard of Weymouth, formerly of Braintree died on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Joan was born in Braintree, and was the daughter of the late James Calhoun and the late Kathleen (Farley) Calhoun. She grew up in Braintree and met the love of her life, the late Stephen Girard at United Carpet. Together they built a life that they loved, surrounded by family and friends and settled in Weymouth to raise their three daughters. Joan was known for her kindness, loyalty and her famous chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed all kinds of creative hobbies, spoiling her grandchildren, spending time with her family, Bruce Springsteen concerts and cheering on her UCONN Huskies. Joan leaves behind her daughters, Kathleen (Girard) Iacovelli and her husband Michael, Jill (Girard) Ordonez and her husband JR, Stephanie Girard-Garcia and her husband Aluysio. Loving Nana to Mikayla, Maxwell, Aidan, Emerson, Tenzin, Yoshi, Lola and Gigi.
Joan was the devoted sister to the late Rosanna Dias and her husband Manuel, the late Margaret McKeough and her husband James, James Calhoun and his wife Patricia, Kathleen Eaton and her husband Richard, William Calhoun and his partner Ann, and her life long friend Rosemary Miller. Joan also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and their spouses and children, whom she adored.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, Aug 9th from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Route 18 opposite South Shore Hospital). Funeral Mass on Aug. 10th at S. Albert’s Church, Weymouth at 10:00 AM.
Donations can be made in Joan’s honor to her lifelong charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Angel Fund for ALS.
