Joan Frances (Gallagher) Gallagher

Joan Frances (Gallagher) Gallagher, Born June 5th, 1935; Passed away peacefully in Sandwich Mass., on Dec. 9th, 2016 with her family and loved ones around her.

Joan was raised in Brookline, Mass. Daughter of Ellen (Sullivan) Gallagher and James Patrick Gallagher.

Joan went to school in Brookline and was a graduate of Holy Cross Academy. Joan was a lifelong resident of (Montclair), North Quincy, Mass.

Joan retired from the Nynex/Verizon Company and moved to Weymouth, Mass. In retirement she used her Broker License and worked as a realtor.

Joan is a graduate of Boston University. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Weymouth schools systems. Joan worked with Adult Literacy groups, and was herself an avid reader. Joan, always active in her church community, had a beautiful voice and sang in the choir. Joan loved being on/beside the water on Cape Cod with her family and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by the late Edward W. Gallagher. She is survived by her 4 beloved children, Barbara Gallagher Riggs, Joanne Gallagher, Edward W. Gallagher II, Martha Gallagher Rand and Thomas Rand, and her 14 grandchildren and her 4 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Monday, Dec., 19th at 9 a.m. at St. Agatha’s Church Milton, Mass. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Adult Literacy Program payable to Trustees of the TCPL i/c of the Literacy Program at 40 Washington Street, 2nd floor, Quincy, MA 02169.
