Joan Ellen O’Loughlin

Mrs. Joan Ellen O’ Loughlin, age 85, of Exeter, formerly of Hingham and Weymouth, MA died on Sunday June 12, 2016 at Langdon Place.

She was born on January 10, 1931 in Cambridge, MA, daughter of the late Leo P. and Claire (Avery) Curran.

She graduated from St. Columbkille High School in Brighton, MA and attended St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, IL where she was a Hospital Sister of St. Francis.  Joan completed and received her nursing degree from Cambridge City Hospital.

 Joan was employed as a nurse for Norfolk County Hospital in Braintree, MA and also as a private duty nurse for many years. She made her home and raised her family in Weymouth, MA before moving to Hingham, MA and more recently within the past year resided in Exeter, NH.

 She was a longtime former communicant of St. Albert the Great Church in Weymouth where she was a lector and Eucharistic minister.

 She was the wife of the late Francis A. O’Loughlin who predeceased her in 2000.

 Joan leaves four children, Francis A. O’Loughlin, Jr. and his wife Mary of Westerly, RI, Anne A. Tirrell and her husband John of Hampton, NH, Philip J. O’Loughlin and his wife TJ of Londonderry, NH and Mary E. Webb and her husband Daniel of Falmouth, MA, and was survived by 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

 She was predeceased by three sisters, Claire, Nancy and Jean and three brothers, Paul, Donald and Leo.

 Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her vistiation on Thursday from 8-9 am in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Weymouth followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Albert the Great Church, 1130 Washington St., Weymouth at  9:30 AM.  Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
