Joan Amabile Anderson of Weymouth, died May 28, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Joanie was a lifelong resident of Weymouth and loyal townie. She proudly served as a trustee for Tufts Library for 45 years. She worked for Pell Rudman/Atlantic Trust for over 30 years, retiring as a Vice President. Joanie enjoyed extensive world travel with her husband, brother Ralph and sister-in-law. She enjoyed tracking the stock market, keeping her hand in politics, regularly watching her two favorite shows and religiously following all the New England sports (especially Red Sox). Winning a little on scratch tickets and a day visit to the casino was her passion. Joanie was outgoing, strong minded and loving.
Beloved wife of 57 years to Walter Anderson of Weymouth. Devoted mother of Steven Anderson and his wife Barbara of Spokane WA and Kara Anderson and her partner Diane Simon of Weymouth. Cherished Nana of Holly and Katie. Loving sister of Jeanne Amabile of Kennebunk, Maine and the late Ralph Amabile Jr., Rose Egerton and William Amabile. Dear sister-in-law of June Amabile of Kennebunk, Maine. Lifelong friend of Jeannie O’Connell and Ruthie Bates. Joanie is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as her two cherished cats Sassy and Zaza. She will be deeply missed by all those whose life was touched by her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday June 6 from 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).
Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday June 7 prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM.
Burial in Village Cemetery, Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan may be made to New England Wildlife Center, 500 Columbian Street, South Weymouth, MA 02190 or Pat Roche Hospice & NVNA 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061.
