Jessie (Murphy) Fergusson

Fergusson, Jessie (Murphy)  age 91, died Sunday, February 23, 2014, after a lengthily illness.  

Born in Boston, Jessie was the beloved wife of the late Ernest S. Fergusson of Hingham. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Church and a Hingham resident for over 60 years. A graduate of Bridgewater State University, she worked as a teacher at St. Paul Elementary School in Hingham for many years, and deeply touched the lives of countless students with her enthusiasm and encouragement.  Jessie loved travel, music, animals, art, and gardening.  After she retired, she devoted much of her time to volunteer work for the Meals on Wheels program and the Hingham Public Library.

Jessie is lovingly remembered and survived by her sisters, Evelyn Murphy Crim of Wollaston, MA; Dorothea Riley Byrnes of Hull, MA; and June Diamond McInnis of Winchester, MA,  as well as a sister-in-law, Claire T. Murphy of Rockland, MA. She is also survived by her daughter, Barbara “Babs” Fergusson of Hull, MA; her son-in-law, John “Whitey” Dion of Hull, MA; her daughter, Janet A. Allen of Whitman, MA; her granddaughter, Emily R. Allen of Whitman, MA; her granddaughter, Angelina M. Conti of Marshfield, MA and husband Jason N. Ringquist of Marshfield MA. Also survived by her great-grandchildren, Trinity L. Ringquist of Marshfield, MA and Ty “TJ” Ringquist of Marshfield, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
