Getchell, Jessie Marie (Curran) of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, passed at home on August 22, 2010. Cherished mother of Joseph Michael Donnelley of Trout Run, PA and Kimberly A. Getchell of Quincy. Devoted grandmother to Bruce Simmons of Quincy, John Nittenger of Trout Run, PA, Crystal Nittenger of Brockton, and Jason Donnelley of MA. Loving daughter of the late Frank Curran and Mary Alyward (Lynn) Curran. Dearest sister to Betty Hale of Weymouth, Loretta Karsay of Brockton, Anna Mullen of Nashua, NH, Helen Vitalie of OH, Josephine Gallahue of Quincy, and the late Gertrude Holiday, Edward Curran, Jack Curran, Francis Curran, and her beloved brother William “Willie Boy” Curran. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and her extended family “Ironworkers Local 7″ of Boston, where to many brothers and sisters she was called “Mom”. Jessie was born in Avondale, P.E.I., Canada, later to migrate to Boston with her family. The country never left the city girl. Jessie worked for 32 years at Kelley’s Cork-N-Bull in South Boston as a devoted waitress. She was known for her passion for cooking and being an exceptional hostess. Jessie was also an avid Red Sox fan, wearing her “Big Papi” shirt, and the New England Patriots. She was always dedicated to her family and was a favorite of the grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Wherever she went, she brought laughter and smiles. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visiting hours in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy on Friday from 4-7:30 PM followed by a Celebration of Jessie’s Life at 7:30 PM in the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Donations in Jessie’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
