Jeremiah O’Connor

O’Connor, Jeremiah P. “Jerry” born in Co. Kerry, Ireland on March 6, 1930, Jeremiah died on October 24, 2015 at Marina Bay Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center, Quincy, MA.

 

He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor and his parents Timothy and Hannah O’Connor.  He is survived and remembered with love by his six brothers and four sisters.  

 

Jeremiah emigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1950, sailing on the Britannic from Cobh, Co. Cork to New York.  He entered the U.S. as a citizen as his father was a U.S. citizen and veteran of WWI.  Soon after arriving he took a job with Jordan Marsh Company in Boston working exclusively for the company for 41 years, except for the two years he was active duty in the U.S. Army.  He retired form Jordan Marsh Company in March 1991.  He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 25, Boston, MA.

 

Jeremiah was a Korean War Veteran.  He entered the military service (U.S. Army) in October 1951 and served in the U.S. and Japan.  In September 1953, he was Honorably separated from the Armed Forces of the United States and transferred to the Army Reserve, Mass Military District.  On January 11, 1960, he was Honorably Discharged from the Army of the United States.

 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1 PM.
