Jennie Powell

Jennie Powell, 86, of Weymouth, died peacefully in her sleep on August 4, 2013 at South Shore Medical Center in Weymouth.  Born January 3, 1927 in Lynn, she is predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Veronica Dedalonis of Chelsea, and her late, beloved husband of 34 years, David Powell of Weymouth, as well as her daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Cote, of Nashua, NH.

Jennie was a busy homemaker raising eight children, and later volunteering her time, creative talents and energies with various charitable organizations.  She will be sorely missed by her family.

Surviving family members include her brother, Joseph Dedalonis, her sons David (Margo) Powell Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC, Robert (Mary Ann) Powell of Quincy and Johnny (Becky) Powell of Melrose.  Daughters Patricia (Glen) Brown of Northfield, NH, Jane (Richard) Bonomi of Marshfield, MA, Cathy Geffers of Gorham, ME,  and Carolyn Powell of Bridgewater, MA.  She is also grandmother to Andrew Brown, Jennifer Brown, Keith Cote, Kris Cote, David Powell III, Kimberly Powell, Richard Bonomi, David Bonomi, Erin (Powell) McGreary, Robert Powell, Stacy Powell, William Powell, Chuck Geffers, Tori Geffers, Kari (Pohl) St. Laurent, David Pohl, Jenna Pohl, Chelsea Powell, Jonathan Powell and Jolie Powell.  She is also survived by multiple step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and love to beloved friend and family member, Ellen Minahan, who helped us all so much for so long.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday August 10th at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Chapel in East Weymouth, followed by a private burial.  Please join the family at the Son’s of Italy, 161 King Hill Road, Braintree 12:30 – 3:30 to share your memories of Jennie.
