Jeanne Marie Remondini

Jeanne Marie Remondini, formerly of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on Sept. 10, 2022, in Indianapolis, with her son, David J. Remondini, by her side.

Jeanne Fopiano was born to Charles Fopiano and Mary Frances Cullinan Fopiano on May 17, 1929, in Dr. George Emerson’s historic house, which later became South Shore Hospital. She attended public schools, first in Rockland and later in Weymouth. While at Weymouth High School she was in the Camera Club and met her husband, Ernest B. Remondini. They married on Oct. 26, 1949, and the couple lived in Weymouth their entire lives, until Jeanne moved to Indianapolis.

While her husband attended Bridgewater State College, she worked for Century Indemnity Insurance, at 40 Broad Street in Boston, and the Edwin Cook Insurance Agency in Weymouth Landing.

In 1968, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bridgewater State College. She taught at the Hunt and Pratt schools. Then she worked at the Athletic Department at Weymouth North and later in the Administration Building until she retired in 1997.

Both she and her husband were advocates for social justice and the rights of disabled children. The couple also enjoyed travelling together and had visited the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska. They had also taken river cruises on the Columbia River, through Europe and in Russia.

In addition to travel, she enjoyed reading and knitting. For many years she was a regular member of the Ladies of the Club reading group.  She also volunteered as a Eucharist Minister at South Shore Hospital and as a greeter for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception and later St. Albert’s, where she participated in a lengthy sit-in protest that successfully resisted efforts to close the church.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Ernest Remondini, who passed in 2014, her daughter Teri Scroggins, who passed in 2016, Teri’s husband David Scroggins, who passed in 2007, and her son James, who passed in 1964.

Survivors include her son, David J. Remondini and her daughter-in-law Lou Ann Baker, of Indianapolis; her sister, Norma Colp of Laconia, New Hampshire, her grandson Todd Scroggins and his wife, Regina Stanley, of Huntsville, Ala.; her nieces Paula Colp of Weymouth, Adele Chertoff of Sanbornton, New Hampshire, Joyce Kelley of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, Rena Vincent of Plymouth, Lisa Poche of Marrero, Louisiana; and her nephews Kenneth Kelley of Sutton, Mass., Brian Colp of Laconia, New Hampshire, Paul Winslow of Gillette, New Jersey, Albert Winslow of Phillipsburg, New Jersey and her niece, Cyndy Boudreaux of Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

Visitation will be at Keohane-McDonald Funeral Home in East Weymouth, Mass. from 4-6 pm on Sept. 16, 2022. A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2022, with burial to follow immediately at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in South Weymouth.

Memorial contributions made be made to the Arc of Indiana, the Arc of Massachusetts, or a favorite charity.
