Jean Merrill Kachin

Kachin, Jean Merrill “Jeannie” (Josselyn) of Hingham, died February 26, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.  

Jeannie adored her family, especially her grandchildren. She worked as a hairdresser out of her home in order to still be around her children. She loved singing, dancing, and giving lessons on how to do the jitterbug. Her and her beloved husband Charles would go dancing every weekend, have gatherings with friends to play cards, played on the Dorchester Yacht Club bowling league, and also loved to travel. They were also very active at Old Ship church in Hingham. She could often be found sitting around her dining room table with young women drinking tea and sharing stories of empowerment and independence, both of which she embodied and felt strongly about. Later in life, she enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. Jeannie loved babies, animals, especially dogs, and was extremely nurturing. She was an outgoing, caring woman with a great sense of humor who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Beloved wife of 60 years to the late Charles P. Kachin. Cherished mother of Richard Kachin of Holbrook and Paula Dillon and her husband Matthew of Hingham. Loving sister of Dorothy Cole of Cohasset and the late Betty and Herbie Josselyn. Adoring grandmother to Nathan, Andrew, and Maddie. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and her Bulow Place family. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral home service in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM Sunday at 2 PM.
