Jean M. Gillan

Gillan, Jean M. (Schreffler) of Quincy, died February 18, 2019. 

Jean adored her family and friends and was an extremely loyal person to those she loved. She was proud of her Polish and German heritage and enjoyed keeping up the traditions, especially during the holidays. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, St. John, Florida, and New York City and going to the theater. Jean was passionate about teaching ceramics and crocheting. She put her all into her interests and excelled. In her 70’s, she took some computer and business classes at Quincy College which she was very proud of. She had a knack for accounting and math. Keeping in touch with family was very important to her and thought of her sister’s grandchildren like her own. Jean was dedicated, energetic, and organized. She was generous and always enjoyed helping others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Adored daughter of the late Charles L. Sr. and Jean F. (Wiesnewska) Schreffler. Beloved wife of 56 years to William J. Gillan of Quincy. Loving mother of Lynda Martin and her husband Bill of Weymouth. Cherished sister of Barbara Schueler and her late husband Frederick of Waltham, Charles L. Schreffler Jr. and his late wife Dorothea of Weymouth, and the late John Schreffler. Loving sister in law of Joseph R. Gillan of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
