Jean M. (MacDonald) Breen, of Quincy, a longtime resident of the Merrymount neighborhood, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024. She was 91.
Jean dedicated 17 years of her professional life to State Street Bank, where she served diligently in the Trust Department, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Jean loved her job, returning to the workforce after spending thirty years at home. Beyond her professional achievements, Jean was a very creative person, delighting in cooking and baking for her loved ones. She also found joy in watercolor painting.
Jean was the devoted wife of the late Henry P. Breen Jr. for 67 years. Loving mother to Mary Ellen Glennon and her husband William of Quincy, Henry P. Breen III and his wife Lisa of Middleboro, and Patrick Breen of E. Boston. Grandmother to Daniel Breen and his wife Victoria of Plainville, Leah Long and her husband Richard of Quincy, Katelyn Breen of Hyde Park, and John “Jack” Glennon and his fiance Sam of E. Boston. Great grandmother to Emma Breen, Abigail Breen and Ada Long. Predeceased by her siblings, Helen Hartigan, Katherine Mossbacker, Frances McLaughlin, John MacDonald, Phyllis Dailey, and Virginia MacDonald. Survived by a dear sister-in-law, Florence Breen of Quincy, many nieces and nephews, and friends Pat Brennan, Pat Leary and Mary Sullivan, who visited her faithfully.
The family would like to thank the staff at Queen Anne Nursing Home, where Jean spent her last years, being cared for with kindness and respect.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday, April 26 from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 27 at 9:15 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to Smile Train, 633 Third Avenue, 9th Floor, New York, NY 10017 .
