Jean F. Wilcox

Jean Frances (Lee) Wilcox of Weymouth, died February 14, 2015.

Beloved wife of the late Edward S. Wilcox. Daughter of the late Alice (Mahoney) and Bernard F. Lee. Loving mother of David Wilcox and his wife Pam of Braintree, Donald Wilcox and his wife Lorraine of Upton, Steven Wilcox and his wife Sheree of Oakland, CA, Anthony Wilcox and his wife Marianne of Corvallis, OR, Edward Wilcox of Plymouth, Lisa Wilcox of Weymouth, Michael Wilcox and his wife Lynn of Milton and Jean Wilcox and her spouse Deborah Merriam of Cambridge. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister Rita Lee McLean and her brother Bernard T. Lee.

Jean was born in Boston, grew up in Braintree and graduated from Framingham High School in 1943. She attended Hickox Secretarial School in Boston and worked at the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children until her marriage to Edward S. Wilcox in 1947. Edward and Jean raised 8 children first in Framingham, then Niagara Falls, NY, before moving to Weymouth in 1965. After Edward passed in 1977, Jean worked in quality control at Talbots in Hingham until her retirement. Jean had a life-long love of the ocean, and would frequently walk the beaches of Hull and Cohasset. She was always reading, and particularly loved mysteries. She wrote poetry, and although shy by nature, she gave confident readings at local venues. Above all, she had an abiding love for her husband and for her children and their families, and that love was returned to her many times over.
