Jean F. (Sullivan) Savery, formerly of South Weymouth, passed away on November 9, 2015, surrounded by her loving children.
Born and raised in Cambridge, Jean graduated from Cambridge High & Latin. Together with her late husband, Robert C. (“Doc”) Savery of nearly 60 years, she raised five children in South Weymouth. Jean took great pride in her home and family, instilling in each of her children the value and importance of education. Jean was a devoted parishioner of St. Albert the Great Parish; she lived her life with an open heart and showed kindness to those in need. She worked outside the home at Filene’s at the South Shore Plaza and, later in life, at the Middlesex County Registry of Deeds. She served her community as an elected Weymouth Town Meeting Member in the 1980s.
Jean leaves behind her children, Robert Savery, Jr., of North Granby, CT; Ann Martello and her husband Mark of Harwich; Paul Savery and his wife Martha of Sandwich; Jane Savery and her partner Kerry Reilly of Watertown; and Donald Savery and his wife Cathleen of Duxbury. She was the sister of Catherine Lynch of Arlington and the late Mary McMorrow, James Sullivan, Dorothy Powers, Edward Sullivan, Walter Sullivan, Robert Sullivan and William Sullivan. Cherished grandmother of Benjamin Martello, Elizabeth Esmond and Robert, Patrick, Kaitlyn, Michael, Kerrianne, Alexander, Kyle and William Savery and the great grandmother of Grace Esmond. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or the Seasons Hospice Foundation, 6400 Shafer Ct., Suite 700, Rosemont, IL 60018.
