Jean E. Lee

Jean E. (Donnellan) Lee, a classroom teacher in the inpatient psychiatry department at Boston Children’s Hospital died following a brief illness on January 31, 2015 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She was 67.

 Jean was born and raised in Newton where she graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She then enrolled at Boston State College which she not only earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education but also met her husband, Robert G. Lee of Dorchester.

 Jean and Bob settled in Dorchester, where they raised their three children and became very active in the local community. Jean was a strong community leader.  She served on the boards of  the Murphy Community Center Council, GB-ARC, Patriot’s Trail Girl Scout Council, and was actively involved in the youth programs of Saint Ann, Neponset.  Jean took great pride in participating in the education of children during their darkest times while inpatient at Children’s Hospital for over 27 years.

In addition to being the beloved wife of 43 years to Bob, she was also the loving mother of Robert G. Lee, Jr. of Dorchester, Maureen E. Maderos and her husband Matthew of Quincy and Elizabeth A. Angell and her husband Brian of Dorchester, the devoted “Mimi” to Matthew, Christopher, Patrick, Joseph and Abigail and the dear sister of Charles Donnellan and his wife Kathleen of Natick. Jean is affectionately remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours in the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. Quincy on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church, Neponset at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
