Jasper M. Evarts

Evarts, Jasper M. of Hingham, formerly of South Dartmouth, died July 13, 2015.  

Jasper was born in New York City, attended St. Bernard’s School and St. Paul’s School, and graduated from Harvard College with a Bachelor’s Degree in History.  His professional career was centered in the financial markets, notably as a partner of Baker Weeks & Co. and a portfolio manager at Palmer & Dodge, Harvard Management Company and Harbor Capital Management.  In addition, he served as a governor of the Boston Stock Exchange and a board member of the Cambridge Trust Company and the Merchants Bank of Vermont.  He was a member of the Boston Economics Club and the New Bedford Yacht Club.  Jasper enjoyed gardening, traveling to Nantucket and the Caribbean, and reading a wide variety of literature and publications.  He was a personable, high energy man that will be greatly missed by many. 

Beloved husband of Patricia Sullivan-Evarts and the late Wendy Evarts. Cherished father of Edwin Evarts and his wife Caroleigh of New Canaan, CT, George Evarts and his wife Robin of Hanover, NH, Jeremiah Evarts and his wife Kara of Landgrove, VT, and Nathaniel Evarts and his wife Bree of Hopkington, MA. Loving brother of Katharine Merck and her late husband Albert of Lexington, MA and predeceased by Mary Steele, Elizabeth deRham, and Maxwell Evarts. Loving grandfather of Nicholas, Elizabeth, Samuel, Brenton, Adelaide, Gibson, Pippin, Quinn, Wheatley, and Margaux. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jasper may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
