After her children had grown up, she went back to school and became a nurse.  She was an accomplished artist and member of the Weymouth Art Association. She played and taught piano to her children/grandchildren.

She was a member of Mass Citizens for life and spent much time with helping young mothers. She was an avid gardener an spent time with all the children and grandchildren outdoors. Remembered by her family for adventurous walks in Esker Park, New Hampshire vacations, weekly Sunday dinners for all.She answered to the nickname “Rocky” which was affectionately given to her by her husband John.
