Janet (Jan) O’Brien, 89 passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday October 8, 2023 after a lengthy illness. Jan was born in Boston MA, the daughter of the late Blanche (Maisey) and Francis Seaman. She was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School.

Janet was the wife of the late James A. Brown and the late Thomas O’Brien. She was the loving mother of James Brown and his wife Lori of North Andover, MA and Joni Collins and her husband Peter of Bradenton FL; Loving sister of Carol Sansone and husband Arthur of Norwood, MA, Diane Crockett of FL, Madeline Holzman and husband Robert of So.Carolina and brother Paul Seaman and wife Paula of Saugus, MA. She was the dear Nana of Gregory Brown and his wife Joanne of Dracut, MA. as well as Great Nana to Christopher and Caylee Zaleski, Dyson and Dylan Mousette and Hailey and Jack Brown. Many nieces and nephews also survive her.

Janet was predeceased by her sister Barbara DeMarco and brother Warren Seaman, and her grandchildren, Tracey Zaleski and Dana Mousette.

Jan was a wife, mother and homemaker, but had several different jobs outside the home. Jan loved music and dancing and seemed to always be the first one on a dance floor. She was quite the bowler and made many friends while playing on a candlepin league for many years. She loved playing Fascination down at Nantasket beach and later enjoyed playing the slots. Jan was a talented crocheter and everyone she loved would eventually be gifted a “broom stick” afghan and her grandchildren would get handmade sweaters. Later in her life, Jan became quite proficient in using an I- phone and an I- pad. The I-pad gave her many hours of entertainment over the past decade.

Jan always made you feel welcome and at ease when you were with her. She will be deeply missed by all.
