Janet (Bryant) Sharry, 83, of Quincy passed away on May 27, 2017 at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center.
Janet was born on July 1, 1933 in Boston and was raised and lived most of her life in the Merrymount neighborhood of Quincy. She graduated from Quincy High School in 1951 and was a homemaker until her children were grown. She then worked at South Shore Bank. Janet was a prolific painter and enjoyed gardening, shopping, and dining out. She loved the ocean and spent many summers at the family’s vacation home in Harwich Port. Janet was passionate about animals; she had cats and dogs throughout her life and supported animal welfare charities. She had a great sense of humor and loved to talk about politics and current events.
Her late father, Milton Bryant, was a Captain in the Merchant Marines and her late mother, Janet, worked at Quincy City Hospital. Her husband of 26 years, John W. Sharry, was an attorney in Quincy. Janet is survived by her son, John Sharry, and his wife, Kathy, of Braintree; daughter, Kim Palmer, and her husband, Bill, of Raynham; and daughter, Maura Sharry, and her husband, Gary Gamboa, of Cohasset along with eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Janet was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Geller and Margaret Holland, and her brother, George Bryant.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy MA from 5:00 to 7:30 followed by a short Memorial Service. Burial at Mount Wollaston Cemetery will be private.
