Jane A. Young

Jane Allison (Long) Young, of Weymouth, MA, Summerfield, FL, and Hingham, MA, passed away on October 5, 2024, at age 81. Jane was born and raised in Ohio to Robert Long and Roberta Campbell Long, who preceded her in death. She married James G Young in 1964. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed the Newport Folk Festival, traveling, and socializing with friends at the Knights of Columbus. She was preceded in death by James, who passed in 1997. Jane built a career in real estate. For over 30 years, she was happy to help people find their forever homes, and also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. In 2012, she moved to Summerfield, Florida. When not working, she enjoyed gardening, spending time with her older sisters, and attending music events. Jane was full of love, verve, moxie, and laughter that far outsized her small frame.

She is survived by daughter Heather Bolecz and her son Casey, as well as her daughter Kathleen Callum and her husband Douglas, all of whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by sisters Frances Edmunds, Susan Kunkel, Elizabeth Long, brother Jeffrey Long, and several beloved nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by sisters Clar Monna Klinect, Judith Jellison, and brother James (Robert) Long. In her final years, Jane fought valiantly against Alzheimer's and spent her final years in the kind and gentle care of all at the Residence at Penniman Hill in Hingham, MA, and Caring Hands Hospice.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM.
